The website provides information for adopted people, birth relatives and adoptive parents about the new legislation and how it affects adopted people, birth relatives and adoptive parents.

The website includes:

Information about the Adoption and Children Act 2002, particularly about the new provisions in relation to access to information and intermediary services that affect adoptions that took place before the 30th December 2005.

A searchable database of all local authorities, voluntary adoption agencies and adoption support agencies in England and Wales that offer help and advice, counselling or intermediary services. This database will help you locate the nearest agency in your area and this information is also available in a printed version. View PDF of ISSP directory.

Information on where and how to find adoption records, previous mother and baby homes and also adoption agencies. This information is currently available in print but will be made available electronically on this website.
